Wireless Internet Cards for Laptops

with one comment

Wireless Internet Cards for Laptops allow your laptop computer to connect to the internet free of cables or wires. The connection to the wireless local area network (or WLAN) is accomplished using a PCMCIA wireless card for laptops.

These cards generally range in price from $20 to about $100 depending on quality and features. There are some things you should be aware of before buying your wireless network card.

First, almost all cards have drivers available for Windows PC’s but if your computer is running Linux or is an Apple, make sure there are compatible drivers available for your card.
Second, decide which features you would consider important. Some cards have extendable antennas for added range or have a light to show they are connected to the network.
Third, compare the power consumption numbers for different cards. This can have a major effect on how long you can work between recharges.
Fourth, price and security (encryption) are two more factors that will determine which card you buy. It’s a good idea to read some hardware review sites on the web to help you decide which card is best for you and your computer.
