Travel Essentials

Regardless of whether you are a frequent traveler or are planning on traveling for the first time, there are some travel tools that you should never leave home without. Here are some tips on the most practical items.

Luggage is one of the most important possessions of any traveler. Although your luggage might be in a hotel room, there are still people that can have access to it. Luggage should be comfortable and have sturdy wheels. It should also be easily recognizable, yet not flashy or expensive looking enough to attract the attention of a thief. Make sure your luggage stands out. Many people that fly with black luggage sometimes grab someone elses luggage thinking it was theirs. This can ruin a person’s vacation.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) suggests that those traveling by air not put locks on checked luggage, but if you do you should use an ‘Air Travel Approved Luggage Lock’. This lock lets security officials use a master key system if they need to inspect your bags, but helps keep other airport and hotel baggage handlers out.

Travel adapters are also important. For people that fly overseas it is important to be able to plug in a laptop, razor, or other electric device in an electric outlet. Travel adapters are quite affordable and can help you charge your batteries or run your own equipment no matter where you are located.

Phone cards are also great items to carry when you travel. Your cell phone may not work and phone cards offer you great savings when using a public phone. It can cost you $10 or more to make an international phone call from a pay phone without a phone card.
